Creating an exciting world through the lens of the kimono

The YAMATO Tsunagari Project is one of the efforts to fulfill the vision of Yamato Co., Ltd. mentioned above.
The YAMATO Tsunagari Project aims to create a new connection between the kimono and the world with new products we create in cooperation with the people and brands we have connections with by utilizing our connections with the producers of kimono materials. As part of the project, we have collaborated with agnès b. and created kimonos, obi belts, and combinaisons, one of the most famous items of agnès b.

The theme of our collaboration is “a touch of Paris.” agnès b. and Yamato did a collaboration out of respect for each other’s creations, as we had been producing clothes in France and Japan respectively for a long time. We have added a touch of Paris to the kimonos and obi belts and used kimono fabrics for the combinaisons.

Born in Versailles, France, she launched her namesake fashion brand agnès b. and opened a boutique in Paris in 1975. Since the second store opened in New York in 1980, agnès b. has been loved around the world as a global brand. Her collections are known for their simple designs that capture the essence of Paris and gentle, charming taste.
She has been active as a top designer since the launch of her brand and also runs the art gallery called La Fab. She gets her inspiration from artist support activities, music, pictures, movie production, environmental protection, and charitable activities, and is known as an energetic woman full of vigor.

The kimonos are made of original textiles of agnès b., and pictures of the landscapes of Paris taken by agnès b. herself are printed on the obi belts.
As thin cotton fabrics are used for the kimonos, they can be worn as yukatas in summer.
The lightweight cotton linen fabric with a smooth and dry texture produced in Hamamatsu and the cotton crepe fabric with a distinctively crisp appearance produced in Ojiya, Niigata are used for the combinaisons, the classic workwear item of agnès b.
